Prof He Jie received her BSc from South China Normal University, China (1982), MSc from South China Institute of Botany, Academia Sinica, China (1985), PhD from Macquarie University, Australia (1991) and PGDipTHE form NTU, Singapore (1996).

Prof He Jie research interests are responses of photosynthesis (chlorophyll fluorescence, Rubisco protein and carbohydrate metabolism) to environmental stress (light, temperature, drought), shoot-root communication (C partitioning, nutrient uptake and N metabolism), dietary minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidant enzymes of leafy vegetables, impact of abiotic and biotic stresses on tropical orchids.
