Dr. Jessica Bellworthy is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Inter-university Institute for Marine Sciences in Eilat and the Lead PI under the Seed Grant Call 08 at SHARE, CREATE.
She graduated with a Ph.D. in Life Sciences at Bar Ilan University, Israel in 2020. Her thesis title was “Thermal tolerance of Scleractinian corals in the Gulf of Aqaba and the parental effects induced by a changing environment". She obtained her M.Res. in Ocean Science at University of Southampton, UK, in 2013 and a B.Sc. in Marine Biology at Swansea University, UK, 2011.
She has vast experience in performing experiments which manipulate seawater conditions (e.g. temperature) to simulate future tropical ocean conditions. Her expertise lies in assessing the physiology and reproductive biology of reef building corals in response to climate change.
